'Growing Sustainably'
theme inspires participants and visitors
NEW GOOD & GREEN PAVILION AT HORTI FAIR 2008
TRANSLATES EXHIBITION THEME INTO CONCRETE SOLUTIONS
From biologically grown flowers and plants to sustainable
packaging and containers, and from certification to fair trade concepts - the
Good & Green Pavilion (stand 07.0901) at the Horti Fair 2008 offers an up-to-the-minute
impression of sustainability in floriculture. In this modern, 150m2 large pavilion
seventeen participants will be presenting how they translate sustainability into
concrete solutions. The Good & Green Pavilion is part of the retail segment
at the Horti Fair, which is being held in Amsterdam from 14 to 17 October inclusive.

'Growing Sustainably is the theme of the Horti Fair 2008. The
spontaneous response to the suggestion made to companies in the
sector that they jointly organize a theme pavilion is one of the
elements that demonstrates that this is a timely and inspiring
theme. ,,There is great interest in the pavilion, which means that
there is a clear need to provide a platform for sustainability
within the floricultural sector and to make this transparent,''
says Saskia Sanders from Retail Projects. She is the Horti Fair
pavilion manager of Good & Green, which is an initiative by
the floricultural sector under the motto of 'Your sustainability
is our concern'.
Signal from the floricultural sector at the Horti Fair
The Good & Green Pavilion enables the floricultural sector
to send out a signal at the Horti Fair that sustainability is not
a trend, but a precondition. Sanders explains ,,The good and green
awareness of consumers and retailers alike is a very important
element in everyday life and running a business, especially in
Great Britain, Switzerland, Scandinavia and the Netherlands. The
Good & Green Pavilion makes the current floricultural range
transparent. This is convenient for the dyed-in-the wool retailers
and an effective confrontation for the other. The Netherlands offers
purchasers the greatest retail-focused good and green range in
the world. It is on show at the Horti Fair and brought together
in the Good & Green Pavilion.’’

Quality and reliability
Participants in the Good & Green Pavilion at the Horti Fair meet a combination
of requirements, as a consequence of which the pavilion complies with all requirements
relating to quality and reliability. All products and concepts are certificated
for example, which proves that their production is socially responsible or biological
and the social credentials are also taken into consideration – the green
element in the pavilion. The good element is guaranteed because the individual
presentations at the exhibition are screened for their contributions to progress
for all links in the chain. Finally, the products are suitable for large-scale
purchase and sales. In the end, fifteen suppliers will be presenting a compact
range of Good & Green products and the addition of the MVO Floriculture Platform
and the Horti Fair brings the number of participants in the pavilion up to seventeen.
,,Really complete and compact at the same time,’’ says Ronald van
den Breevaart from MPS.
